Porcelain carvings on the roof

These lions were placed in front of many temples and palaces to keep away bad spirits and the devil.

Married woman in Guanzhou and Pearl River Delta used to display her sewing tools and decorative items inside her bedroom. The more of these items the wife had, the higher status she would possess in the family.

The Great Wall of China

When we got up to the top of the wall we had to walk over a mile, just up and down, and up and down, and up and down for two hours, but just being able to see that though made doing that worth it.

Transportation in China

The next day after we had left the Forbidden City and gone back to our hotel room we went to the Great Wall of China. To do that first we had to figure out the Subway and Bus systems.
These are our entry tickets and our tickets to the Sliding cars, or the ride that  takes you up to the wall

These are the Sliding cars, but it's more like a roller coaster ride

Getting ready to go and Plane times

Today we realized we needed a lot more stuff that we really had.So we went put and got some things like: a large suitcase, baby bottles and child silverware, also things like tiny toothbrushes, baby toys and clothes.Other things we forgot about were kids cold medicine and allergy tablets.

Are first flight will be at 10:02am, and then we will get to Detroit at 11:30am.Next, after we wait at the airport for a while we have another flight at 1:30pm to Beijing, China. That will be at about 3:10pm, but that will be the next day.It might look like it only took two hours to get there, but since China has a 12 hour time difference it really took around 14 hours of flying plus the 12 hour time difference.
